Tai Chi Basics ("TCB") was developed  by Sifu Alvin Ricardo "Rick" Little. His students learn the 24 Movement Yang Style Tai Chi sequence, plus related breathing and Chi Kung techniques. By learning TCB, students improve their balance, flexibility, respiration, coordination, muscle tone, and over all well being.  They also are introduced to the self defense benefits that come with learning traditional Tai Chi Chuan. Sifu Rick has taught Tai Chi Basics for over 10 years, and he has been a Kung Fu and Tai Chi Chuan instructor for over 15 years.

Although Tai Chi Chuan is proven as a very effective  means for enhancing and maintaining one's health, Sifu Rick teaches Tai Chi Chuan by explaining the martial aspects of the art.  His philosophy about Tai Chi Chuan follows that of those who have been his teachers: At its core Tai Chi is a martial art, and  in order to obtain the most from what this wonderful art offers, Tai Chi students must  understand and appreciate its martial underpinnings.

Sifu Rick's Tai Chi Basics can be learned and practiced by people of all ages.  Most of his students have been between the ages of 30 and 70 years old, but he is happy to be able to state that some of his students have been over 80 years of age.  As Sifu Rick's first Tai Chi instructor - Sifu Sidney Austin - once advised him, "those who develop and hone Tai Chi skills help themselves do better at virtually everything else that they do."
